Outline
Reentry success requires more than technical training and basic life skills; former felons also need hope and opportunity.
Rarely are former inmates offered a chance to prove they value responsibility and accountability. Our AOS will provide a way to demonstrate an understanding of moral standards to show intentions and refute the axiom 'they call come out the same'.
Fair Shake will consider the broad world-citizen perspective as well as individual rights and responsibilities. We will look at how topics relate to current events, cultural norms and each other. Program participants will receive validation for demonstrating an understanding of the ideas. The AOS will be sent to prisons as a self-guided website-simulation program and available on our website.
The Areas of Study include:
- Philosophy / Epistemology
- Psychology / Sociology
- Employability / Rent-ability
- Citizenship
- Mental and Physical Health
Attributes of successful people include: assuming responsibility, planning, being realistic and believing in hard work and lasting relationships. With the understanding of concepts like these, not only will they prepare for success, Fair Shake participants will also prepare for the worst: rejection, set backs, and negativity. This is where they will find some of their greatest challenges.
